Bulk actions let you update settings for multiple clients at once, saving you time when managing a large roster. You can bulk-update Stages and Messaging Preferences directly from the Trainerize Clients table.
Where to Find Bulk Actions
Bulk action buttons appear as small gear icons in the column headers of the Trainerize Clients table. You will find them next to:
Stage column header
Preferred Messaging column header
Click the gear icon to open the bulk action modal for that column.
Tip: If you have a Smart View filter active, bulk actions will only apply to the clients shown in the current filtered view. The modal will display the Smart View name and how many clients are affected.
Bulk Update Client Stages
Use this action to move multiple clients to a specific stage at once — for example, moving all clients in a group to an "Active" or "Offboarding" stage.
Click the gear icon next to the Stage column header.
The Bulk Update Client Stages modal opens, showing all your available stages with their color indicators.
Click on the target stage you want to move clients to.
A preview shows which clients will be affected, with their names and avatars. You can search to narrow down the list.
Click Update X Clients to apply the change.
All selected clients are immediately moved to the new stage.
Bulk Update Messaging Preferences
Use this action to set the preferred messaging channel for multiple clients at once. This controls where automated messages and check-ins are delivered.
Click the gear icon next to the Preferred Messaging column header.
The Bulk Update Messaging Preferences modal opens with four preset options:
Telegram Only — Sets all clients who have Telegram connected to use Telegram only.
Trainerize Only — Sets all clients who have a Trainerize thread to use Trainerize only.
Both Channels — Sets clients who have both Telegram and Trainerize to receive messages on both.
Disable Messaging — Turns off messaging for all clients in the current view.
Each option shows how many clients are eligible (based on whether they have the required integrations set up). For example, "Telegram Only" will only show clients who have a Telegram Group ID configured.
Select your preferred option.
Review the list of affected clients in the preview section. Use the search bar to find specific clients.
Click Update X Clients to apply.

Tips for Using Bulk Actions
Use Smart Views first. Apply a Smart View filter before using bulk actions to target a specific group of clients (e.g., all clients in a particular program or stage).
Preview before applying. Always check the affected clients list in the modal before confirming. The preview shows up to 10 clients, with a count of additional clients if there are more.
Changes are immediate. Bulk updates take effect right away and cannot be undone in bulk. If you need to revert, you will need to update clients individually or run another bulk action.
