Many client settings can be edited directly from the Trainerize Clients table — no need to open each client's dashboard. Just click on a value to edit it inline. This makes it fast to update settings across your roster.

How Inline Editing Works

Editable fields show a visual cue when you hover over them (such as a pencil icon or underline). To edit:

  1. Find the client and column you want to edit in the table.

  2. Click on the value — a dropdown or text input appears.

  3. Select or type the new value.

  4. The change saves automatically. Press Escape to cancel without saving.

Editable Fields

Here is every field you can edit inline, along with what it does:

Language

Sets the AI language preference for this client. FitMetrics uses this when generating AI reports, check-in summaries, and automated messages for the client.

  • Click the current language badge (or "Default") to open a dropdown with 45+ language options, each shown with its country flag.

  • Options include English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Greek, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, and many more.

  • Select (Default) to use your business-wide language setting instead of a per-client override.

Timezone

Sets the client's local timezone. This affects when automated messages are sent and how timestamps are displayed for this client.

  • Click the current timezone to open a dropdown with all available timezones.

  • Each timezone is displayed as its city name and abbreviation (e.g., "New York (EST)").

  • Changing the timezone here also updates it in Trainerize.

Units (kg/cm or lbs/in)

Sets whether this client's measurements are displayed in metric (kg/cm) or imperial (lbs/in).

  • Click the current unit badge to toggle between metric, imperial, or default.

  • This affects how weights, body measurements, and nutrition data are displayed for this specific client.

  • Select (Default) to use your business-wide unit setting.

Preferred Messaging

Controls which channel FitMetrics uses to deliver automated messages and check-ins to this client.

  • Telegram — Messages are sent via Telegram (requires a Telegram Group ID to be set).

  • Trainerize — Messages are sent through the Trainerize app (requires a Trainerize thread).

  • Both — Messages are sent on both channels (requires both to be set up).

  • None — Automated messaging is disabled for this client.

The available options adjust automatically based on which integrations the client has configured. For example, you will only see "Telegram" if the client has a Telegram Group ID set.

Telegram Group ID

The Telegram group or chat ID used for messaging this client via Telegram.

  • Click the current value (or the dash if empty) to enter edit mode.

  • Type the group ID and press Enter to save, or Escape to cancel.

Programs

Assigns one or more coaching programs to the client. Programs help you organize clients into groups and are used in Smart Views and filters.

  • Click the programs badges (or "No programs") to open a multi-select dropdown.

  • Select or deselect programs to assign or remove them.

  • Up to 2 program badges are shown in the table, with a "+X more" badge if there are additional programs.

Trainer

Reassigns the client to a different trainer on your team.

  • Click the current trainer name to open a dropdown listing all available trainers.

  • Select the new trainer. This updates the assignment both in FitMetrics and in Trainerize.

Stage

Sets the client's current pipeline stage (e.g., Onboarding, Active, Offboarding).

  • Click the stage name and color dot to open a dropdown with all your custom stages.

  • Select a new stage or choose (Unassigned) to remove the stage.

  • Changing a client's stage can trigger stage-change automations you have configured.

Tips

  • Hover to discover. If you see a visual cue (pencil icon or underline) when hovering over a cell, that field is editable inline.

  • Press Escape to cancel. If you open an edit dropdown by mistake, press Escape to close it without making changes.

  • Changes save instantly. There is no separate save button — selecting a new value applies it immediately.

  • For bulk changes, use the bulk action gear icons in the Stage and Preferred Messaging column headers to update many clients at once.
