To activate the AI Assistant inside Trainerize, follow these simple steps:
1. Create a Team Member in Trainerize
Go to your Trainerize account.
Create a new team member just for the assistant.
Name it like this:
First Name: Your Business Name
Last Name: Assistant
Example: Xeniosfitness Assistant
This is the name that will appear when the AI replies in chat.
2. Set the AI Sender in FitMetrics
Go to Settings > Trainerize inside your FitMetrics dashboard.
Look for the AI Sender field.
Select the Trainerize profile you just created.
You can also set this up while going through the Get Started page in FitMetrics.
3. Enable the AI Assistant
To make sure your AI Assistant is active and ready to help:
Go to the AI Assistant tab.
Click General Settings and ensure the AI Assistant toggle is turned ON.
Then go to Client Configuration within the AI Assistant settings to make sure the Assistant is enabled for each individual client.
By default, once you enable the Assistant in General Settings, it's automatically turned on for all your existing clients. You can still customize it per client if needed.
4. Use Trigger Phrases
The AI Assistant will only reply when the client's message includes a trigger phrase.
Default trigger phrases include:
"Hey coach"
"Hi coach"
"Coach,"
...and more.
But you can also customize this! For example:
Only respond when messages start with
/Or use any phrase that fits your brand
This ensures the AI doesn't jump into every conversation — only the ones you want it to reply to.
5. Advanced: Agentic Mode (Business package)
Want the AI to respond to every single message from a client — without needing trigger phrases?
Enable Agentic Mode in the Client Configuration tab. When active, the AI will:
Respond to every message from that client
Ignore trigger phrases entirely
Respond 24/7, regardless of office hours
This is ideal for clients who need constant AI support. For full details on per-client settings, Agentic Mode, and bulk management, see: How to Manage AI Settings Per Client (Client Configuration).
