You can record and send voice notes to your clients directly from the FitMetrics message composer — no need to switch to the Trainerize app.

How to Send a Voice Note

  1. Open Trainerize Messages and select a client conversation

  2. Click the microphone icon in the message composer

  3. Your browser will ask for microphone permission — click Allow

  4. Start speaking — you'll see a live timer showing the recording duration

  5. Click the stop button when you're done (maximum 5 minutes per recording)

  6. The voice note is automatically converted and sent to the client in Trainerize

The client will see the voice note as a playable audio message in their Trainerize chat.

Requirements

  • Browser: Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari (latest versions)

  • Microphone: A working microphone (built-in or external)

  • Permission: Browser must have microphone access enabled for FitMetrics

  • Max length: 5 minutes per voice note

Common Issues & Fixes

Error: "Microphone access is not supported in this browser"

Your browser doesn't support audio recording. Update to the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari.

Error: "Please use the Trainerize mobile app or a browser that supports SharedArrayBuffer"

This means the audio format conversion (needed for Android playback) isn't available in your current browser. Try:

  • Using Google Chrome (best compatibility)

  • Clearing your browser cache

  • If on a corporate network, ask your IT team about Cross-Origin headers

Error: "Could not convert audio format"

The audio conversion failed. Try:

  • Recording a shorter message

  • Refreshing the page and trying again

  • Using a different browser

Microphone Not Detected

If clicking the microphone icon does nothing:

  1. Check your browser's address bar for a blocked microphone icon

  2. Click it and select Always allow for FitMetrics

  3. Check your computer's System Preferences / Settings → Privacy → Microphone — make sure your browser is allowed

  4. Try a different microphone or headset

Voice Notes in Coaching Notes

You can also record voice notes in the Notes panel (not sent to clients). These are automatically transcribed to text by AI and added to your notes. Great for quickly dictating observations during client reviews.
