🩺 Why Connect WHOOP?

By connecting WHOOP to FitMetrics, you’ll unlock access to powerful biometric data, including:

  • Sleep & recovery

  • HRV & resting heart rate

  • Daily strain and workouts

  • Weekly and monthly performance trends

All of this is automatically pulled into each client’s profile under the WHOOP tab.

Keep in mind that steps and whoop age are not provided by the whoop API.

šŸ”— Step-by-Step: Connecting WHOOP

1. Open the Client’s Profile

  • Go to the Trainerize Clients table

  • Click on the client you want to connect

  • Select the ā€œWHOOPā€ tab

2. Send the WHOOP Connection Invite

Inside the WHOOP tab:

  • Click ā€œSend Inviteā€

  • Choose ā€œSend via Trainerizeā€ if your client uses Trainerize messaging

This will send a secure, time-sensitive link (expires in 5 minutes) directly to the client via Trainerize.

3. Client Clicks the Link & Logs In

The client must:

  1. Open the message within 5 minutes

  2. Click the link

  3. Log in to their WHOOP account

  4. Grant access to FitMetrics AI

Once done, they’ll see a confirmation that the connection was successful.

4. Confirm the Connection

  • Refresh the page in FitMetrics

  • Return to the WHOOP tab

  • Within 10 minutes, all WHOOP data will appear automatically

šŸ› ļø Troubleshooting & Common Questions

ā“ I can’t see Steps data

This is expected behavior.

Steps are not provided by the WHOOP API, so FitMetrics cannot display them. WHOOP focuses on strain, recovery, sleep, HRV, and heart metrics, not step counting.

āž”ļø There is no workaround for steps via WHOOP at this time.

ā“ I can’t see WHOOP Age

Also expected.

WHOOP Age is not exposed through the WHOOP API, meaning third-party platforms like FitMetrics cannot access or display it — even if the client sees it inside the WHOOP app.

āž”ļø This data is WHOOP-app only.

ā“ The WHOOP tab is empty after connecting

In most cases, this is a timing issue.

What to check:

  • Refresh the client profile

  • Wait up to 10 minutes for the first sync

  • Confirm the client completed the WHOOP login and permissions screen

If needed, resend the invite and have the client reconnect.

ā“ The client missed the 5-minute link window

No problem.

The connection link expires after 5 minutes for security reasons.
Simply:

  1. Go back to the WHOOP tab

  2. Click Send Invite again

  3. Have the client open it immediately

ā“ Data looks different from the WHOOP app

This can happen.

FitMetrics displays raw, structured API data, while the WHOOP app may show:

  • Smoothed averages

  • Proprietary scores

  • UI-only metrics not available via API

āž”ļø This is normal and does not indicate missing or incorrect data.

ā“ Can clients revoke access?

Yes.

If a client revokes access from their WHOOP account:

  • Data sync will stop

  • You’ll need to resend the invite to reconnect

🧠 Pro Tips:

  • If the client misses the 5-minute window, just send the invite again

  • Data syncs daily — no need for clients to reconnect unless they revoke access

  • WHOOP data will also be visible in the Charts tab and included in your AI analysis
