You can create and fully manage Trainerize Groups directly inside FitMetrics — no need to switch to the Trainerize app. This article covers creating groups, renaming, deleting, joining, leaving, and switching between group views.
Creating a New Group
Go to Trainerize Groups
Click the + (plus) button at the top of the left panel
Enter a group name
Choose an emoji icon from the icon picker — there are over 45 options including fitness-themed icons like muscle, fire, rocket, weight lifter, and more
Click Create Group
The new group will appear in your groups list immediately.
The Group Menu
Each group you're a member of has a three-dot menu (⋮) that appears when you hover over the group. Click it to see the available actions:
Settings — open group settings (notification preferences, post permissions, auto-post options)
Rename — change the group name
Leave Group — leave the group
Delete Group — permanently delete the group
Renaming a Group
Hover over the group and click the three-dot menu (⋮)
Select Rename
Type the new name and confirm
Deleting a Group
Hover over the group and click the three-dot menu (⋮)
Select Delete Group
Confirm the deletion in the dialog
Warning: Deleting a group is permanent and removes all messages and files within it. This cannot be undone.
Joining a Group
If you're viewing All Groups and see a group you haven't joined yet:
Find the group in the list
Click the Join button on the group card
You'll be added as a member immediately
Leaving a Group
To leave a group you're currently in:
Hover over the group and click the three-dot menu (⋮)
Select Leave Group
Leader Reassignment
If you are the only leader of the group, you cannot simply leave. You must first:
Promote another trainer to leader before leaving — the system will show you a list of available trainers to select from. Click Reassign & Leave to confirm, OR
Delete the group entirely if no other trainers are available
If there are other leaders in the group, you can leave directly.
My Groups vs All Groups
At the top of the left panel, you'll see a toggle between two views:
My Groups — shows only groups you are currently a member of. These groups display unread message count badges so you can see which groups have new activity
All Groups — shows every group in your business, including ones you haven't joined. Use this view to discover and join existing groups
