Why AI Workouts Can Only Be Scheduled in the Future (Program Overlap Issue)

If your AI workout can only be scheduled months or years ahead, the client already has an active Trainerize program.

If you use the AI Workout Builder and FitMetrics forces the start date way into the future (e.g., March 2026 or August 2026), this happens because of program overlap.

Trainerize does not allow a client to run two programs at the same time.

So if the client already has active or upcoming programs, Trainerize automatically shifts your new AI program to the next available future date.

How to See the Overlap (Important)

After the AI Builder creates the workout and you click Send to Trainerize, a modal window opens.

You MUST scroll down inside this modal to see all details.

At the bottom, you will find a section called Existing Programs.

This shows all active or scheduled programs for that client.

✔️ Example from your screenshot

The client has:

  • A program running Dec 6, 2024 → Mar 27, 2025

  • Another program running Mar 28, 2025 → Mar 19, 2026

Because these programs already cover the entire period, your new AI program cannot start until after the last one ends.

That’s why the system pushes the date to March 20, 2026.

How to Fix It

You have two options:

Option 1: Delete the existing programs

Inside the same modal, under Existing Programs, you will see a trash icon next to each program.

You can delete any of those programs.

Once the overlapping programs are removed, the calendar will allow you to select today or this week as the start date.

Option 2: Keep the current program and skip scheduling

If you do not want to remove their existing program:

  • Do not send the AI workout as a program.

  • Instead, copy the workout and manually assign it as a stand-alone workout inside Trainerize.

This avoids program conflicts completely.

Summary

  • AI workouts get pushed to the future because the client already has active Trainerize programs.

  • Scroll down in the modal → See the Existing Programs section.

  • Delete current programs if you want the new plan to start immediately.

  • Otherwise, add workouts manually as stand-alone items.
