This guide walks you through creating AI-powered workout programs using the structured form-based builder in FitMetrics. Follow the steps below to build a complete, personalized training program and assign it to your client in under two minutes.

Step 1: Open the AI Workout Builder

Navigate to the AI Workout Builder page in your dashboard.

Click the Start AI Builder button to open the workout creation form.

Step 2: Select Your Client

Search for and select the client you want to build the workout for. This links the program to their Trainerize account so you can assign it directly once the workout is ready.

Step 3: Fill In Training Preferences

Work through each field in the form in order:

  • Days per week — Select how many training days (2–7).

  • Session duration — Choose from 20, 30, 45, 60, 90, or 120 minutes.

  • Experience level — Beginner (new to training), Intermediate (6+ months experience), or Advanced (2+ years experience).

  • Primary goal — Muscle Gain, Fat Loss, Strength, Athletic Performance, or General Fitness.

  • Equipment available — Full Gym, Home Gym, Dumbbells Only, Free Weights Only, Kettlebell Only, Resistance Bands, or Bodyweight Only.

  • Supersets — No Supersets, Some Supersets (1 per workout), or Full Supersets (maximum intensity).

  • Circuits — No Circuits, Some Circuits (1 per workout), or Full Circuits (multiple per workout). Note: selecting Full Supersets automatically sets circuits to None.

  • Injuries — Toggle on if the client has injuries, then describe them in the text field that appears.

  • Exercise library — Choose Trainerize Library (built-in) or My Custom Exercises (requires at least 25 synced custom exercises).

  • Additional notes — Add any specific coaching instructions for the AI (up to 300 characters). For example: "Focus on compound movements, avoid jumping exercises".

  • Gym photos — Optionally upload up to 5 photos of the client's gym so the AI can factor in available equipment.

Step 4: Generate the Workout

Click Generate Workout Program to submit the form. The AI will build the full program in approximately 60 seconds. You will automatically move to the Preview tab once generation completes.

Step 5: Review and Edit

The Preview tab shows the complete program: workout day names, exercise lists, sets, reps, and rest periods.

Click on any exercise's notes field to add or edit coaching cues (for example, "Squeeze at the top" or "Control the eccentric").

If the program does not match expectations, go back to the Form tab, adjust your inputs, and regenerate.

Step 6: Send to Trainerize

Click Send to Trainerize when you are happy with the program. The system will create the program in Trainerize, assign it to your client, and schedule workouts on their calendar.

If there are existing programs that conflict with the date range, you will be prompted to handle the overlap.

That's it — a complete, personalized workout program built and assigned in under two minutes.
