The Leaderboard is a powerful ranking system built into FitMetrics that creates friendly competition between your clients. It ranks them based on five key metrics — workouts, nutrition, weight loss, habits, and steps — using a flexible, point-based scoring system that you fully control.

How It Works

The Leaderboard automatically calculates scores based on client activity synced from Trainerize. You set the scoring weights — deciding how much each metric contributes to the total score (they must add up to 100%). For example, you might give workouts 30%, nutrition 30%, and split the rest between habits, steps, and weight loss.

Clients are ranked by their total score, and the top 3 earn medal badges (gold, silver, bronze). You can click on any client to expand their detailed score breakdown.

Scoring Modes

The Leaderboard supports six scoring modes so you can run different types of competitions:

  • Overall — combined weighted score across all metrics

  • Weight Loss Only — ranked purely by weight transformation

  • Workouts Only — ranked by workout consistency

  • Nutrition Only — ranked by nutrition compliance

  • Habits Only — ranked by habit completion rate

  • Steps Only — ranked by step count (averages or totals)

Switch between modes using the Scoring Mode dropdown on the leaderboard page. You can also set a default scoring mode in Settings so it always opens on your preferred view.

Time Periods & Filters

Filter the leaderboard by different time windows to run short-term challenges or track long-term progress:

  • Last 7 / 30 / 60 / 90 Days

  • Last Week / Last Month

  • This Month / This Year

  • All Time

  • Custom Date Range — pick any start and end date

Additional controls:

  • Exclude Today — toggle this on to remove today's incomplete data from the rankings

  • Averages / Totals — switch how steps are displayed and sorted (average daily steps vs. total steps in the period)

  • Smart View Filter — show only clients from a specific smart view, perfect for running separate competitions for different client groups

Achievements & Streaks

Clients earn achievement badges based on their performance. There are 9 achievement types — from Perfect Workout Warrior (100% workout completion) to Step Master (15K+ daily steps) to Long-term Committer (12+ weeks tracked). All thresholds are customizable in Settings.

Consistency streaks track how many consecutive weeks a client stays at 80%+ overall compliance — rewarding long-term dedication.

Privacy & Sharing

The Leaderboard is fully privacy-safe:

  • Hide full names or profile pictures on the public version

  • Let clients opt out from appearing on the leaderboard

  • Generate a public share link to send to clients or embed in Trainerize

  • Post results to Trainerize Groups — manually or on a recurring schedule

Some coaches display the leaderboard on gym TVs and offer monthly prizes to the top 3 — boosting accountability and building community.
