Your Trainerize Messages tab is where all client chats come together — finally, no more switching accounts or asking coaches for screenshots.

Here's how it works:

💬 The Left Sidebar – Your Messaging HQ

You'll see all your active client chats on the left. Click on any name to open the full conversation.

Important: Messages only appear from the moment you activated the Trainerize webhook (done during onboarding). Unfortunately, Trainerize doesn't allow us to pull past history — only new ones.

🔍 See All Coach-Client Conversations (Yes, Really)

One of the biggest limitations of Trainerize is that you can't monitor what your coaches are saying to clients.

FitMetrics fixes this.
We show all message threads — grouped by each coach — so you can:

Monitor tone and professionalism
Step in if needed
Train junior coaches by reviewing their convos

You can even reply directly inside any thread.

⚠️ Why Can I See AI Messages in FitMetrics but Not in Trainerize?

This is one of the most common questions we get — and it's completely normal. Here's what's happening:

When a client has multiple trainers on their account (e.g. you as the owner + an assistant coach), Trainerize creates a separate message thread for each trainer. In the Trainerize app, each trainer can only see their own thread — this is a Trainerize limitation, not a FitMetrics issue.

FitMetrics automated messages (welcome messages, check-in reports, calorie reminders, etc.) are sent using a specific Trainerize team member account — often an assistant coach like "AI Coach" or "Zoe Assistant Coach." If that account is different from yours, those messages land on their thread, not yours.

The result: You can see the messages in FitMetrics (because FitMetrics shows all threads for every client), but you won't see them in the Trainerize app (because Trainerize only shows you your thread).

How to check:

Open the client's Messages tab in FitMetrics.
Look at the thread list on the left — you'll see threads for each trainer.
Click between threads to find where the AI messages were sent.

This is expected behavior — the messages were delivered to the client successfully. You just can't see them from your Trainerize account because they're on a different trainer's thread.

Want to keep a conversation open while checking progress or updating plans?
Just click the Dock icon – the chat pops out and follows you across the platform.

More Inbox Features

Beyond the basics above, your Trainerize Messages inbox includes several more tools to keep you organized:

Status Filters — Use the filters in the sidebar to switch between All, Waiting, Follow Up, and Archived conversations. Each filter shows only the conversations in that status, so you can focus on what needs attention right now.
Follow Up and Pin — Flag any conversation for follow up so you can come back to it later. You can also pin important conversations to the top of your list for quick access.
Bulk Actions — Select multiple conversations at once using the checkboxes, then perform batch operations like archiving, marking for follow up, or changing status in one click.
CSV Export — Export your full conversation history as a CSV file for record-keeping or reporting. Available on the Business plan.
Scheduled Messages — Write a message now and schedule it to send at a specific date and time. Works for individual clients and broadcast messages.
