Every client has a compliance status that affects how the AI communicates with them, how they appear in the Compliance Tracker, and what feedback they receive. You can change it directly from the client dashboard.
How to Change Status
Go to Trainerize Clients and open a client
Click the status badge (e.g., "Active") in the left sidebar under the client's name
A dropdown opens — select the new status
Available Statuses
Status | Color | When to Use |
Active | Green | Client is training and logging normally |
Paused | Gray | Temporarily paused from coaching |
Injury | Red | Dealing with an injury |
Sick | Orange | Ill or recovering |
Vacation | Blue | On holiday or traveling |
Business Trip | Purple | Traveling for work |
Menstrual Cycle | Pink | Adjusting expectations during cycle |
Cancelling | Dark red | Client is planning to leave |
"Keep Status for Future Weeks?"
When you select any status other than Active, a dialog asks:
"Do you want to keep [status] until you manually change it again?"
"No, just this week" — the status applies only to the current week. Next week it resets and is calculated from the client's actual compliance data.
"Yes, keep it" — the status stays permanently until you manually change it. Useful for long-term injuries, extended vacations, etc.
Custom Statuses
You can create up to 10 custom statuses with your own name and emoji.
To manage custom statuses, go to Compliance Tracker and look for the status management option. Custom statuses appear in the dropdown alongside the built-in ones.
If you delete a custom status, all clients with that status are automatically reset to Active.
Where Status Appears
The client's status is visible across FitMetrics:
Client dashboard — the status badge
Compliance Tracker — color-coded status column
Trainerize Messages — sidebar indicators
AI Check-Ins — the AI adjusts its tone and recommendations based on status (e.g., won't celebrate workout performance when client is injured)

Why Status Matters for AI
The AI reads the client's status when generating check-in feedback:
Active — normal coaching feedback
Injury — AI acknowledges the injury, avoids pushing training
Vacation — AI adjusts expectations, focuses on maintenance
Sick — AI focuses on recovery, not performance
Keeping statuses accurate ensures clients get appropriate, empathetic feedback.
